Gabriella De Leon studies journalism and Spanish with a specialization in translation at the University of Nevada, Reno. She’s also a social media consultant, a tutor and a freelance journalist. When not at school or at work, she’s at home relaxing with my cat, making art, or volunteering. She plans on becoming a bilingual political journalist.
Kenny DeSoto is a senior at the University of Nevada, Reno. He’s passionate about multimedia storytelling and the art of photography. He’s inspired by the global news organizations such as AJ+, National geographic, and VICE News. He would like to become part of a grassroots documentary film company post graduation like Grassroot Films or Little Monster Films.
Monica Gomez is a journalism student at the University of Nevada, Reno. She currently reports for Noticiero Móvil. She hopes her coverage of the 2016 presidential campaigns educates and informs the local. Monica is willing to experiment in order to gain a diversified audience and make the best out of the resources available to inform the public. Tim Lenard is a journalism student at the University of Nevada, Reno. He grew up in the Midwest, on the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin. While new to journalism, he always enjoyed writing, ever since winning an award for short fiction in the second grade. He loves meeting new people and hearing their stories. READ BLOG
Jose Olivares is originally from Mexico City and is working towards a Journalism and Sociology dual major from the University of Nevada, Reno. His interests mainly lie in political and social conflict and developments. He hopes to produce meaningful journalism that can motivate social change.
Natalie Van Hoozer is a junior at the University of Nevada, Reno. She is majoring in journalism and Spanish. Born in Reno, she loves languages and expanding her cultural awareness. She reports for the bilingual news organization Noticiero Móvil and this summer she will be the Business News Intern at Reno Public Radio. In the spring of 2017 she plans to study abroad in Madrid, Spain. One day, she hopes to be a bilingual journalist and travel the world.
